This is a new recipe I tried out. I took the hints from our blogger friend in the URL below...

http://menutoday.blogspot.com/2007/06/brinjal-rasavangi-koottu-rasavangi-is.html

It came out quite well, much different from the normal brinjal that we make as sidedish for roti.

Brinjal ( I made with the white ones)
Cooked sambar dal 5 tablespoons
Tamarind pulp 4 tablespoons
kadala paruppu fried in oil (channa) 2 tablespoons
Rasam Powder 2 tbsp
A pinch of turmeric
asafoteida

Fry in oil and grind

Coriander seeds 2 tsps
Grated Coconut 2 tsps
Dry Red Chillies - 2
basmati Rice 1/4 tsp

Preparation:

Heat oil in a wok and fry kadala paruppu.
In the same oil, fry Mustard seeds, Curry leaves and add Brinjal pieces.
Fry for a few minutes then add Turmeric Powder, asafoteida, Salt, Tamarind Water, Rasam Powder, Fried kadalai paruppu and cook till brinjals become soft.
Now goes the ground paste, Cooked tuvar dal and add water till raw smell goes.
