Brown Rice Dosa

Got a packet of Organic brown rice at home, so decided to make a nutritious brown rice dosa which is better than the traditional white idli rice.

Ingredients

Brown Rice - 1 cup
Idli Rice - 1 cup
Urad dal - 1/2 cup
Aval (poha) - 1/2 cup

Soak brown rice and idli rice the previous night. Morning, before grinding the batter, soak urad dal and aval for 1 or 2 hours, as it does not need over night soaking. I use a grinder to grind the urad dal and mixie to grind the rice and aval. (grind the aval and rice separately).  There is a problem with my grinder wherein it gets heated up fast. So follow this method of grinding oflate. When grinding rice in the mixie, first grind with less water, gradually increase the water used to grind. The water in which rice and dal was used to soak can be used for grinding. This make the grinding better and tastes good too. Ferment the batter for 10 - 12 hours.

Heat and dosa pan and make dosa.. This dosa takes awhile to brown, so you need to wait patiently.

Nice tasting dosa is ready to eat !!!
